2 Corinthians 9:6-11
6 Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
7 Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.
9 As it is written, “He has scattered abroad. He has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.”
10 Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness,
11 you being enriched in everything to all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us.

Chapter 9
This passage challenges believers to live with open hands, recognizing that everything we have belongs to God. Generosity is not primarily about money but the posture of our hearts toward all God has entrusted to us, including time, abilities, and possessions. Trusting God rather than our resources transforms our giving from fear and control into joyful, intentional participation in His mission. Ultimately, God desires to form generosity in us—a trustful openness that reflects His grace and enables us to bless others.
Verse 6
Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Paul uses the illustration of a farmer sowing seed to teach that generosity involves trust. Holding tightly to what we have, driven by fear of losing security or facing future needs, limits our ability to experience God's provision and blessing. While planning and saving responsibly is wise, the real question is where our security ultimately rests. God calls us to live with open hands, trusting Him rather than our resources.

Verse 8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.
God's provision is abundant so that believers have all they need to engage in good works continuously. Giving is not a transactional investment expecting material return but a participation in God’s grace. Generosity breaks the control possessions can have over us, bringing freedom by reaffirming that our security is in Jesus. It also meets real needs among people and aligns our resources with God’s Kingdom purpose, showing that everyone has something entrusted to them to bless others and serve God’s mission.
Verse 11
you being enriched in everything to all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us.
God enriches believers to enable generosity, encouraging continual giving that blesses others and leads to thanksgiving to God. Our resources are often given not only for personal benefit but so they can be a blessing beyond ourselves, furthering God’s work and expressing His grace through us.
